[am-nlp] Warning on Mail from Dr Baye Yimam

Greetings All,

Firstly, congratulations to Mike Gasser for releasing AmMorpho, I look forward to working with it in the very near future.  I have only noticed now in the AmMorpho announcement email the copying to Dr Baye Yimam Mekonnen (bayemekonnen at yahoo.com), and regret now that I did not issue the following warning sooner.

Disregard any email that you may have received from this account since June 19th, the mail is not from Dr Baye but a hacker who broke into his account.  On this day I begun receiving email from the account where the sender claims to be Dr Baye and reports that his hotel room was robbed, he has no money, and requests a loan of a thousand pounds, etc. The letter had the ring of truth to it but the hacker made a slip up that I was fortunate to notice.  I had several exchanges with the hacker, asking some simple questions that only the true Dr Baye would know, but the hacker could not maintain the charade.  Fortunately it was also early in the morning and I noticed a friend in A.A online who I asked to phone Dr Baye who in turn reported that he had not been able to log into his account for several days and he was intended to open a new one.

I haven't received mail from the account since the 19th and I hope that the hacker moved on.  I also contacted Yahoo's security team on Baye's behalf but they were unwilling to pursue the case because I was not the account owner.  Dr Baye would have to report the problemÂ…  At the present time I do not have a new email address for Dry Baye but will inquire.


again, my sincere regrets for not conveying this warning sooner.
